De-stress in the mountains overlooking Innsbruck

Park Igls Health Retreat is located on a sunny plateau in the Alpine resort of Igls, 20 minutes from downtown Innsbruck, historic capital of the Austrian Tirol, with glorious mountain views on all sides.

Specialising in signature Modern Mayr cures designed to achieve lasting improvements to mental and physical wellbeing, the resort sits in a delightful private park overlooking Innsbruck, an easy 20-minute ride from the airport.

The fresh Alpine environment and beautiful mountain views are perfectly conducive to spiritual uplift and good health. So why not resolve to check in for Easter – an opportunity to build on lifestyle improvements, not revert to pre-Lent excess?

“In recent years, we’ve seen a marked increase in guests seeking help for mental health issues,” said Medical director Dr Peter Gartner. “That has less to do with isolation and anxiety caused by the pandemic than the stress of everyday life and work.” The once derided theory that many physical and mental ailments stem from the gut, is now widely accepted. “What and how we eat is the route to good health and wellbeing.”

Park Igls’ Mayr De-stress programme is designed to help those suffering from burnout, depression or neurodegenerative complaints. Early indicators include sleep disorders, heart-racing and low motivation. Guests learn coping mechanisms and how to ‘slow down’ through coaching, exercise and relaxation training sessions as well as targeted treatments. They also learn a new approach to eating through the eight-stage Modern Mayr Cuisine diet plan. On arrival each guest receives a personal assessment and is assigned a treatment and diet programme tailored to restore health to the gut on a pathway to enduring wellbeing.

Complementing the De-Stress programme – priced from €2700 (£2,300) per person for a complete one-week itinerary – is a range of Detox packages and specialised options including Physio Fit, for the relief of physical pain; Neuro Fit, for people suffering degenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s or MS; Immune Booster for improved resilience; and Fit After Covid which deals with fatigue and the many adverse side effects of the virus. A cure typically lasts from four to 21 nights.

All programmes can be combined with medical services and diagnostics including a full medical check, IHHT (Intermittent Hypoxia-Hyperoxia Treatment), gender-specific medicine, massages and movement classes.

The Park Igls team of experts in Mayr and conventional medicine is supported by therapists, physiotherapists and specialised physical trainers. A key component of the programmes is Mayr-trained chef Markus Sorg’s light alkaline cuisine, prepared with organic ingredients that are easy to digest and beautifully presented.

Accommodation is charged separately: single rooms from €209 (£178) per night, double rooms from €404 (£344) per night based on 2 sharing; bookable only in conjunction with a Modern Mayr Programme and inclusive of breakfast, Innsbruck transfers, taxes and underground parking. Additional medication is charged as taken.
